Saturday 19th December, 2:30pm matinee
Terry and Drew are brothers, but they are worlds apart.
Meeting on the grounds of a private psychiatric facility, Drew has been court-confined for observation and has called on his brother Terry to corroborate his story about a young man from many summers ago.
As old wounds begin to surface, the brothers are forced to confront pain, betrayal and the legacy of abuse that has shaped their family. What begins as a conversation becomes an increasingly unsettling journey into memory, responsibility and the things families try to bury.
Neil LaBute's In a Dark Dark House received its European premiere at the Almeida Theatre in London in 2008, following its Broadway run.
Shed Theatre’s production brings LaBute's tense and uncompromising drama into the intimate setting of Theatr Bont. With minimalist design, movement, lighting and sound, the production keeps the actors at the centre of the story, allowing the audience to experience the shifting dynamics between the characters at close quarters.
The production also features Movement & Intimacy Co-ordinator Meredith Lewis, supporting the company in approaching the play's difficult material with care.
Running time: 2 hours, including a 10-minute interval
Age guidance: 18+
Content warning: Contains scenes of traumatic impact, including themes of abuse and psychological trauma.
Terry - Iwan Bond
Drew - Andrew Krueger
Jennifer - Jessica Eden
