Christmas Eve, Bridgend, Wales.
Beth, a tightly wound Welsh Londoner, and her sister Catrin, a volatile recovering addict, reunite a year after their mother’s death. Their bond is tested by buried resentment, addiction, and the shadow of Catrin’s recent overdose.
When Beth’s boyfriend Zac arrives unannounced, questions of codependency and control emerge. The sisters are drawn into a volatile confrontation that exposes long-buried secrets surrounding their mother’s death and threatens to destroy what remains of their relationship.
Contemporary and deeply human, Where the Flowers Kneel is a three-hander exploring Welsh identity, the delicate violence of sisterhood, and how love and harm can often speak the same language.
In 2025, London-based Welsh company Shed Theatre returned to Bridgend and founded Theatr Bont - Bridgend’s first pub theatre. Independently run and producing in-house with a collaborative, community-centred company, Where the Flowers Kneel was one of the productions that helped launch the theatre’s success, receiving a five-star review from Buzz Magazine and leading to Shed Theatre’s inclusion in Buzz Magazine’s 2026 “ones to watch in the arts in Wales” list.
Theatr Bont remains a huge part of the play’s roots and continued development. Now, a year on, the production makes its London transfer to Theatre503 in Battersea, bringing together its original cast and creative team.
